Care Home Open Day

Care Home Open Day (16th June 2017) is all about connecting with your local community and sharing what’s going on in your care home, as well as being a great opportunity to make new connections and develop lasting relationships with local businesses, schools and families. This year’s theme is ‘Friendship’ – something we at The Daily Sparkle feel very strongly about – which means there’s a special focus on making connections, shared moments and the way your residents interact with each other.

“We want to enrich the lives of the UK’s care home residents by reminding people that care homes in every community are filled with unique, intelligent and charming characters, and run by special people that really do care,” says a spokesperson from the charity.

In addition, Care Home Open Day is being celebrated alongside The Big Lunch, an annual event organised by the Eden Project, which aims to get as many people as possible to share lunch together in an act of friendship, that will encourage communities to connect and help to prevent isolation amongst those who may be living alone.

It’s the perfect recipe for having fun with your residents, feeding community spirit and helping to build stronger neighbourhood connections. Care homes are encouraged to celebrate friendships that have developed between residents, families, friends and staff, as well as with their neighbours, to reinforce how they should be an integral part of their local community.

Good care homes do great things all year round and this one day is to highlight what you do within your local communities.
