‘Reader’s Corner’ – Elizabeth’s royal portrait

We were thrilled to see this brilliant self-portrait, made by Elizabeth, a resident at Bridgewood House Care Home in Enfield. This artwork was produced as a result of our recent art competition. We were blown away by the effort and attention to detail.

“Elizabeth wanted to make a happy picture of the Queen, as she is her biggest fan. Finding out that she had passed away was hard, but Elizabeth took the news better than we expected. ‘I still have her in my heart and all my pictures and the memorabilia and the lovely picture we have made,’ Elizabeth told me. She came to the activity room to create this portrait. I put out lots of different craft materials on the table for her to choose from. The portrait took several short one-to-one sessions to make. Elizabeth loved each and every session as she could spend the time talking about the Queen. ‘We must put flowers in my hair and tell Queen how I feel about her’ she said. ‘Do you have some stamps?’ she asked. We settled for printed ones, as the real ones are expensive!”
