Big Fun Balloon Order Form, User Guide and Step-by-Step Video

Get ready for loads of fun with The Sparkles Big Fun Balloon. Every single time I have used them, without fail, they have created lots of laughter, fun and joy. Why? I’m not sure. Maybe it’s the size, or the bouncy-ness, or the bright colours, or the fact that it reminds people of their childhood and parties – whatever it is, it works!

We have to buy The Sparkles Big Fun Balloon in very large quantities as they are specially manufactured for us in the USA. The one you have should last you a long time. Mine are usually good for a couple of months or more. However, if you want to buy extras we currently have a reasonable amount in stock.

I wish they could be cheaper but as the American company have a monopoly we have to pay their premium price, and we have to pass that on.

Here are some Tips & Tricks for using The Sparkles Big Fun Balloon

Youll need a 6 to 8 inch piece of masking tape to tie-up the balloon.

Health & Safety

The safer the environment, the more fun you will have.

  • Don’t have drinks (especially hot ones) in the area.
  • Clear away or protect any fragile objects in the room.
  • Be aware of any light fittings that may be vulnerable and take precautions.
  • Let participants get used to the balloon in gentle ways before they start hitting it around with more vigour.

Preparing the room and session

  • Go through the Health & Safety checklist.
  • Have some music available. Jolly, happy music works best at medium volume.
  • Arrange the seating in a biggish circle.
  • Make sure the kitchen/catering staff know not to bring in any drinks during the session.

Introducing The Sparkles Big Fun Balloon

Before you blow up the balloon let the participants know that the session with a very big balloon will be good for their health and that it should also be a lot of fun.

Blowing up the balloon

This can already be part of the fun. You can use an electric or a manual balloon pump, or you can use your own lungs (my favourite!).

Whichever way you do it, take some recovery / ‘wow, look at this’ breaks at different points along the way to full inflation. The participants are probably going to be very interested. Have a laugh, make some jokes. This is a fun session.

Don’t stop inflating the balloon until it is BIG. This is a heavy-duty latex 36-inch balloon, so ideally you should blow it up to around 30 to 33 inches in diameter. Part of the magic is having a massive balloon.

Tying/securing the balloon

When you have got the balloon to the size you want it, hold the mouth of the balloon closed and then start twisting the neck until it is one straightish piece of twisted latex. Double it over onto itself and then use a piece of masking tape (no other type of tape because the balloon risks being damaged) to wrap around the doubled-over neck so that it holds it in place. Normally it is good to have the masking tape go around the neck 2 or 3 times with the last inch left unattached). Don’t tie a knot otherwise you won’t be able to use the balloon again. Keep the balloon inflated if using again soon. Otherwise, deflate and re-inflate when needed.

Checking the balloon and starting the fun

Find a safe, appropriate place in the middle of the circle of participants and bounce the balloon on the floor with enough force to make the balloon also bounce down from the ceiling with a flourish.

* Put on some jolly music at medium volume.

Getting started

Start off quite gently and help everyone get used to the balloon. Go round the circle one at a time and ask the person to pat the balloon back to you. Catch it each time they hit it back to you and then throw it gently to them so that it is easy for them to pat it back. Do this 6 to 8 times for each person. It will probably take around 30 seconds as you’ll be standing quite close.

Anyone for tennis?

Once you have gone around the circle and built everyone’s confidence then you can open up the sport and invite everyone to pat the balloon around and across the circle. Chances are that you will have some gentle players and you will also have some who want to wallop the balloon. You’ll need to be alert to keep the game in order but it is so much fun that it is worth the effort. Try to make sure that everyone has a fair go and gets to have a pat, or a whack.

More exercise

Ask the participants to only use their right hand, or their left hand, or their right foot, or left foot. Keep it varied and it will keep the fun at a high level and also give the participants some valuable exercise without them even noticing.

Deflating the balloon

If possible just unpeel the masking tape, but if it is on too tightly, then carefully use scissors to snip the tape (not the balloon!!). It can be fun to just let the balloon zoom around as the air goes out of it. Above all…. ENJOY!
