Our May competition deals with a sensitive, but very important subject – how do you provide end of life care? And how do you celebrate the life of a resident who has passed away?
End of life forms a significant part of your role as an activity coordinator, and is perhaps one of the most challenging. In our May competition, we want to involve you in sharing your suggestions and reflections on this important aspect of your work.
As an activity coordinator, there are a lot of things to think about during these significant moments. How to communicate the news to other residents, how to allow meaningful time for people to say goodbye, and how to involve and support relatives – these are all aspects that need to be handled respectfully and smoothly. Do you prepare tributes or celebration of life services in your home? Do you maybe run sessions to involve other residents in celebrating those who have passed?
We would like you to tell us about your experience of what works, and we will choose three winners the three most helpful, relevant and inspiring entries who will each receive a cheque for £25.
By entering this competition, you are helping to share your skills and knowledge with other activity coordinators, so that we can all develop caring and compassionate ways of celebrating the lives of our residents and supporting those who are still with us. The best entries from all our competitions are shared here on our Hub, capturing your innovative ideas and highlighting examples of best practice, so they can be shared by others working in the same field.
To enter the competition, complete the special entry form at www.dailysparkle.co.uk/competition. All entries must be received in this way to be included in the competition. You will also need your care home reference number a four or five digit number found in the subject line of the email which has your Daily or Weekly Sparkles attached.
The competition opens on 1st May 2019, and all entries must be received by 31st May 2019. The winners will be notified by 15th July 2019.
